NIKWAX Cottonproof Instructions

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS:
-Machine wash is best. Treat clean garments. Pre-wash in a non-detergent soap such as Nikwax Tech Wash
-Leave clean, wet garments in machine
-Shake Cotton Proof well before use
-(For frontloading washing machines
-Use approximately half of the amount of Nikwax product called for on the instruction label.
-1-2 garments - low water level - 10oz
-Add Cotton Proof once machine has filled. Always use at least one full bottle per load
-Run machine’s full cycle. For best results, stop machine 5 minutes into cycle and let garments soak for 15 minutes
-Restart and complete machine’s cycle
-If hand washing, immerse clean garments in warm water (4 gal/18 liter max per garment) and agitate thoroughly
-Allow to soak for 15 minutes agitating periodically. Rinse thoroughly by hand
-Tumble dry low heat if care tag allows, or hang dry
-For wet or dry cotton tents use approximately 10oz to proof a 2-3 man rainfly or 30oz for a family tent.
-Dilute with 6 parts warm water (1:6). Set up tent and paint solution onto the outside of the fabric
-Work solution in with a brush and spread any runs. For wet tents dilute with only 2 parts water (1:2)

Caring For Cotton Clothing
-Cotton clothing absorbs considerable amounts of water. It can also be dangerous because it evaporates so quickly. "Cotton kills" is the adage of many outdoor enthusiasts because they know that it will contribute to hypothermia in wet, cold conditions. Cotton Proof from Nikwax can add water repellency to cotton, making it safer and more usable in the outdoors.

-Clean with Nikwax Tech Wash. Wash the garment in Nikwax Tech Wash non-detergent soap. Detergents can leave water-attractive residues that will not rinse out. They also contain agents that can wash away water-repellent treatments. Never use liquid detergents or fabric softeners. Tech Wash will remove water-attractive residues left behind by detergents.

-Treat to add water-repellency with Nikwax Cotton Proof. Leave the clean, wet garment in the washer and wash with Nikwax Cotton Proof according to instructions. Cotton Proof can also be used for Cotton/Poly blended fabrics like 60/40 cloth and cotton canvas.

-Maintain by cleaning the fabric with Nikwax Tech Wash. Once treated, keep the fabric clean with Nikwax Tech Wash to maximize performance and extend the life of the fabric's new water-repellent finish.
