PROUDLY MADE IN CANADA
We Stay in Canada because that's who we are...
ASK ANYONE WHO KNOWS ™
We’ve kept our production at home in Canada because we are committed to outstanding craftsmanship and believe that no one can do it better. Our signature down-filled parkas are produced by our own facilities in Toronto, Winnipeg and by Canadian manufacturers we’ve trained to meet our extremely tough quality control standards. It’s more expensive to make our products in Canada but it’s critical for the integrity and authenticity of the brand and for the quality of our products.
THE DOWN EXPERTS™
For over 50 years Canada Goose has developed an industry leading understanding of down insulation technology. That knowledge has allowed us to choose the best blends of down, in addition to us crafting our own premium proprietary blends, to suit the very specific requirements of each of our down-insulated jackets. We make sure the right down goes in the right product. It is important to note that all of our down blends contain some Hutterite down. This is among the most premium Canadian down available. Its main advantage comes from tremendously dense down plumules that hold and retain more warm air than most other types of down. That results in greater warmth generated by less fill, and in turn, jackets that are manufactured to be lighter without sacrificing warmth. In a longstanding commitment by Canada Goose and Feather Industries, all down is certified to be hypo-allergenic, lab-tested, and never harvested by live plucking.
WHY WE CHOOSE FUR:
For Canada Goose, functionality is paramount. Our jackets are built for the coldest places on earth, places where skin around the face can freeze in an instant. Fur trim around a hood works to disrupt airflow and create “turbulent”, warmer air around the face-protecting from frostbite. In these environments, when life is on the line, fur is not just the best choice, but the only choice. We do not use fake or “faux” fur because it simply does not protect as well as real Coyote fur. Faux fur is only a fashion statement. It does not act in the same way that real fur does to protect skin from frostbite. There are three types of fur that protect from frostbite: Wolf, Wolverine and Coyote. We have chosen Coyote fur because it is highly abundant. In fact, in many regions of Canada, Coyotes are considered a pest as they attack livestock, endangered prey species, pets and sometimes people. In procuring fur, we strictly adhere to all Canadian industry guidelines and government regulations. In fact, Canada is the world leader in humane trapping, providing the scientific basis for the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards. Only furs taken with methods that meet this international standard may be produced in Canada. We also take pride in the fact that by supporting this sustainable industry we are supporting aboriginal communities of the Canadian North and their ways of life. We strongly identify with the values of these communities, which are based on a profound respect for and harmony with nature. While fashion is subject to trends, Canada Goose is not. We have used fur for more than half a century because of its protective properties, not as a fashion statement. However, we know that whether or not people want to wear fur is a personal choice. We manufacture jackets without any fur, which are lighter weight and designed for more temperate climates and aerobic activities. We recognize and respect the right of people to choose not to wear fur. In turn, we hope that people will respect our ethical and responsible use of fur.
Goose grows in popularity our challenges have also grown to global proportions. Fake Canada Goose parkas are made with inferior materials and substandard quality, resulting in jackets that offer no protection from the elements and can actually pose health risks. Additionally, the production of counterfeit products often support illegal activities such as child labour, unsafe working conditions and organized crime. Working with a leading authority on counterfeiting, Canada Goose has developed a hologram that will be sewn into every Canada Goose jacket and accessory as proof of authenticity. The hologram, created exclusively for Canada Goose, features seven seperate images or elements that can be seen from different angles. The hologram was designed to be complex, extremely costly and difficult for counterfeiters to reproduce.
